It is our wish to bring Drum Majors into the training and competition loop and to provide a standard for Drum Majors in Canada. Our normal attendance is 12-15 Drum Majors.
As a well-established workshop we offer outstanding intensive training given by one of the world’s most qualified Drum Majors, Norman MacKenzie, ex Drum Major, Toronto Scottish and the 48th Highlandrs of Canada, Senior and Tattoo Drum Major Nova Scotia Tattoo for 23 years. MacKenzie is currently Senior Drum Major for the Canadian Massed Pipes and Drums.
The Highland Games in Western Canada have seen a demand for the Drum Majors’ competition as a crowd-pleasing event, and an increase in competitors who feel the confidence and readiness to lead their bands as a result of the workshop training.
These events are well-attended by members of military bands, police service bands, fire-fighter bands, Legion bands and other pipe bands under various auspices.
Our workshops are held annually on the Easter Weekend.
